Hobby Boss 82914 1/72 Scale German BR86 Steam Locomotive Kit

The design of the famous BR 86 steam locomotive was based on the 1925 design requirement of a 15-ton axle load, which allowed it to be used on all main railway lines at the time, especially in hilly and mountainous areas. This locomotive uses the same proven design as previous locomotives for a large number of components, which facilitates maintenance and saves production costs. The first BR86 locomotive was produced at the locomotive factory in Karlsruhe, with a total of 776 produced between 1928 and 1943, making it the longest-running steam locomotive in Germany, with some models being produced for the war. Beginning in 1939, these locomotives also began to serve Austria, Poland and the Soviet Union. After World War II, the Czechoslovak State Railways received 65 of these locomotives through war compensation. They were in service until the sixties, before being phased out.
