History

The ultimate 'clash of eagles', representing the battle for air dominance during the Second World War, was undoubtedly fought between Britain's Supermarine Spitfire and Germany's Messerschmitt Bf 109, two of the most iconic combat aircraft in aviation history. Both fighters served throughout the conflict, undergoing continuous upgrades to either gain the upper hand over their opponent or counteract them. Although other aircraft types eventually joined the conflict, the Spitfire and Messerschmitt maintained their fierce rivalry, which commenced over the beaches of Dunkirk in the summer of 1940.
