Description
This HO scale exhibit car recreates American Freedom Train display car #101 from the 26-car Bicentennial museum train that toured all 48 contiguous states between April 1975 and December 1976. The prototype was rebuilt from New York Central lightweight baggage car #9128 and carried the train's founding-era treasures, including Benjamin Franklin's handwritten draft of the Articles of Confederation, George Washington's annotated copy of the Constitution and a fragment of the original Star-Spangled Banner. Car #101 carries the artwork panels for the 1776-1786 and 1786-1796 decades. Bachmann reproduces the car's backlit shadow boxes and artwork panels, printed courtesy of FreedomTrain.org, over the train's white, red and blue livery. The model has a detailed painted body with precision graphics, detailed trucks with see-through sideframes, blackened metal wheels with RP25 contours and added weight for optimum tracking, and it is fitted with kinematic magnetically operated E-Z Mate Mark II knuckle couplers for operation on tighter radius curves. The car measures 11.5" long.
