Southern Pacific's class B-100-40 boxcars were the last word in high-capacity single-door box cars, and this N scale six-pack models the post-merger survivors: cars still lettered SP, with the Union Pacific shield applied and road-number-specific patches.

Southern Pacific took delivery of 250 Pacific Car & Foundry B-100-40s in 1976. Each car offered 5,195 cubic feet of space behind a 12-foot door, rode on a full Hydra-Cushion cushioned underframe and carried Car Pac loaders. The cars ranged all over the SP system and far beyond it, and most of the class survived the 1996 Union Pacific merger to run for years afterwards.
