Rapido 175008 HO Scale Southern Pacific Dome-Lounge w/Flat Sides #3602

Rapido's HO scale SP 3/4 Dome-Lounge as rebuilt with stepped flat sides, painted for Southern Pacific #3602 in the railroad's later silver and red General Service scheme. Rapido tooled the model with two fully detailed interior configurations, two underbody arrangements and both fluted and stepped flat side options.

Southern Pacific built one prototype and six production Dome Lounge cars in its Sacramento General Shops in 1954-55, using salvaged frame components from retired pre-war Pullman-Standard "Daylight" cars and a dome structure supplied in kit form by Budd. The cars debuted on the San Joaquin and Shasta Daylights and the Overland before seeing wider service, and at least four survived into the Amtrak era.
