Description
Rapido brings Southern Pacific's home-built dome cars to N scale. Car 3602 wears the Overland (UP Streamliner) scheme of Armour Yellow, gray and red and carries the original corrugated fluted side sheathing; SP rebuilt the fleet with slab sides in the 1960s.

SP built one prototype and six production Dome Lounges at its Sacramento General Shops between 1954 and 1955, reusing select frame components from retired Pullman-Standard pre-war Daylight cars, with the dome structure supplied as a kit by the Budd Company. The cars first ran on the San Joaquin and Shasta Daylights and on the Overland before seeing wider service.
