Norfolk Southern #8542 is finished in NS black with white lettering and the horsehead herald, with the dynamic brake hump and close-clearance stepwells, on Rapido's HO scale General Electric C36-7. This release carries an ESU LokSound V5 decoder plus Rapido MoPower.

The C36-7 was GE's higher-horsepower six-axle Dash-7, powered by a sixteen-cylinder 3,600 or 3,750 horsepower diesel engine. Just over 599 were built between July 1979 and February 1989, including domestic orders for Conrail, Missouri Pacific and Norfolk Southern.
