About This Item
Construction of the heavy cruiser Tone was completed in November 1938. Designed to provide reconnaissance even during battle, she carried four 20.3cm twin gun turrets concentrated forward of the bridge, while the aft deck was dedicated to aircraft operations and could carry up to six floatplanes. The Tone served at Pearl Harbor, Midway, the Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf. This 1/350 scale assembly kit (576mm long) depicts the ship at Leyte Gulf in October 1944.
